Daily Check-Ins and a Community Rec

Originally, back when this community was on LJ, I planned to have daily or semi-daily check-in posts. Then I found out I'm really bad at keeping up with that and just stopped when I came over to DW.

But! If you're someone who likes the daily check-ins and think that's helpful, here's a community you might want to check out: [community profile] exercise_every_day

Their Bio:
A community for people pursuing a daily exercise regimen to log their activity. Feel free to ramble on, or just post a one liner.

Let's keep each other honest!

Pretty simple! Someone makes a post every day and then you go and reply with your exercise regimen or activity log. Easy peasy!

And if anyone is interested in starting a daily log/check-in here feel free to start posting one! I found them super helpful while I was doing it, but like I said, I'm just not very good at remembering to make the daily post.

Zombies, Run!

Zombies, Run! was released for Android yesterday, and I just finished the first mission last night. I'm totally hooked. I can't wait until my next workout so I can find out more about what's going on in Abel Township.

Anyone else playing?

Cutting down on my soda intake

I've been trying to cut back on my soda lately. It got to the point where all I was drinking all day was Diet Coke, and that's just no good. So I've slowly been weaning myself off, and introducing water in it's place. The problem I'm facing is that whenever I go to get a drink, I automatically reach for the bottle of soda, then realize what I'm doing and stop myself. However, instead of having a water in the soda's place I end up drinking nothing. Which is no good.

However, today I've managed one (rather large) glass of Diet Coke, two glasses of V8 juice, and lots of water. Go me!

Tomorrow I attempt to do all this and exercise. Goals, I have them!

Get your excersize without leaving your computer!

With "Toque’s World of Warcraft® Fitness Program©"

But wait just a minute, what if you don't play WoW? Fear not, for while Toque describes the fitness program as working around down time in WoW, it can easily be adapted to your own desk-bound self. Basically, they are exercises you can do from your chair. You can fit them in while waiting for Tumblr to update, for that fanvid to download, or your Guild to finally get their act together so you can go and tackle that final dungeon.

Toque breaks it down into two parts.

Part A
These are exercises that you can easily squeeze in without leaving your chair. They include things like Leg Lifts, Tummy Squeezes, and Waist Twists.

Part B
These are for the more advanced. Once you're comfortable with Part A and feel ready for the next step, then comes Part B. These are get-out-of-your-chair exercises - Push-Ups, Squats, Lunges, etc.

Both Part A and B are excellent ideas to squeeze in some get-fit routines without making a big deal of it. Just another way to get yourself in shape while working with your current routine.

Some really great fitness and yoga icons over here at wild plums on LJ.

They also point out an awesome website - ExerciseTV - a site with free full length videos so you can exercise from the comfort of your home. Pretty awesome.
